Francesca T. Royster is a Professor of English at DePaul University whose work explores African American literature, queer studies, and music criticism. She earned her PhD from UC Berkeley and has written on artists ranging from Prince to Tracy Chapman. Her books include *Sounding Like a No-No* (2013) and *Black Country Music: Listening for Revolutions* (University of Texas Press, 2022).
