Nanci Griffith (1953–2021) was an American singer-songwriter from Austin, Texas, known for blending folk, country, and pop in a style she called "folkabilly." She wrote and recorded songs that became hits for other artists, including "From a Distance" and "Love at the Five and Dime." She won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album in 1994 for "Other Voices, Other Rooms."
