Huey and Kat Deal with Lilly Dabbs Live at The Cactus Cafe!
Cactus Cafe, Austin
Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Huey is a singer-songwriter rooted in southern folk music. She spent eight years playing in various groups, most notably her full band Huey & The Heaven-sent, before becoming a solo artist. Atwood Magazine noted that she "brings some diversity to what people perceive southern music to be," following the release of the band's second full-length LP, How to Keep Things Alive.
Over the past year, Huey's songwriting has earned her scholarships from multiple arts institutions to write and record across the country. She participated in the Slough Farm residency program in Martha's Vineyard, MA, where she produced and self-recorded the songs "Passerby" and "Chimes," and returned in February from the Chalk Hill Artist residency in Napa Valley, where she continued writing and recording while sharing her work with the local community.
She is currently working on a solo EP leaning toward Psych-Folk, set for release in early 2027. Her cited inspirations include Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, S.G. Goodman, and the Indigo Girls.
